PATRONS OF MOORS SC
M. I. M. Naleem Hadjiar (2002 - 2006)
He was a leading philanthropist and entrepreneur who dedicated his life to social reform and was an energetic social worker and reformer. Mr. Naleems’s first involvement with Moors SC is recorded in the Secretaries Annual General Report in 1968, for having donated towards the Building fund and other requirements.
Mr. N. M. Buhardeen (1984 - 1988)
He was one of the pioneer garment manufacturers in Sri Lanka and Chairman of Fairline Group of Companies. Mr. Buhardeen became a Member of Parliament from 1987 – 1994 under the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress. He was one of the few individuals who gave Rs. 150,000\= as a grant to the Moors Building Fund in its planning stages.
Dr. M. C. M. Kaleel, M.P. (1952 - 1984)
He had been a Member of the State Council, a Member of Parliament and a Cabinet Minister. At the time of his passing away, he was the Chairman of the United National Party with which he had been associated as one of its founder members. He was a highly competent medical practitioner, respected by his colleagues and is said to have introduced penicillin to Sri Lanka.
Y. M. Naina Marikar (1951 - 1952)
He was the Justice of Peace of the Western Province and was among a few Ceylonese at that time to be marked out for recognition on the occasion of the coronation of his majesty, the King of England. A dogged supporter of the Moors SC, he supplied the entire furniture for its new pavilion, the much needed sporting materials and other facilities that were needed at the time.
