VICE PATRONS OF MOORS SC
Al Haj A. H. M. Azwer (1992 - 2005)
He served as a Member of Parliament, being elected on the national list in 1989, 1994, 2000 and 2002.He was also a Deputy Whip in Parliament both in the government and opposition. He was also the Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs to the President of the Republic of Sri Lanka and also had been appointed as Media Ombudsman.
Hon. Jabir A. Cader (1995 - 2002)
He was a distinguished and highly successful businessman, reputed cinema owner, film importer and distributor, apart from being a well known film producer. He had a very successful term as a member of the Colombo Municipal Council and was elected as the Mayor of Colombo, in which he served from 1965 to 1969.
M. T. Idroos (1960 - 1976)
He was a member of the Board of trustees of the Maradana Mosque. He was also one of the members of the Golden Jubilee Committee. Mr. Idroos was popularly known to have provided the Umpire’s Coats for several years. He also made donations for the building programme.
Mr. A. H. M. Ismail Esq., J.P.U.M. (1954 - 1983)
He was the Captain of the Wesley Cricket 1st XI in 1992. He played Cricket for Moors SC in the early years and was a fine all rounder. Mr. Ismail donated two Billiards Tables to the club.
Senator E. G. Adamaly, J. P. O. B. E. (1952 - 1975)
He was a prominent member of the Dawoodi Bohra Community of Sri Lanka. In 1963, it is mentioned in the AGM minutes that among other magnanimous gentlemen, Senator Adamaly donated Rs. 2,000 to meet the shortfall of Rs. 31,500 to complete the construction of the pavilion. Senator Adamaly was elected as Vice President of Moors SC in 1951 and later on, in 1952 he was elected Vice Patron of the Club.
Dr. T. B. Jayah (1951 - 1960)
He was an appointed member of the State Council from 1936 to 1945 and subsequently in 1947 was elected to the first Parliament as the second member of the Colombo Central electorate. It was during his tenure as Vice Patron of Moors SC that, in 1956 the Moors SC Cricket team toured Pakistan as guests of the Board of Control for Cricket in Pakistan.
